He was the founder of SimaFore, a predictive analytics consulting company, which was recently acquired by Soliton Inc., a provider of testing solutions for the semiconductor industry.

He is the co-author of book on Predictive Analytics and Data Mining and the co-chair of
the annual Predictive Analytics World - Manufacturing, conference in Chicago. He has a Ph.D. from Carnegie Mellon and an MBA from Ross School of Business - Michigan. He is currently working with IBM's Watson Cognitive Center of Competence.

He was one of the first executives to join the Logicalis team where he began as CFO and over the next 11 years led the company through multiple acquisitions and growth initiatives that positioned it as one of the largest and most respected enterprise solution providers in North America. In 2011, CRN (www.CRN.com) selected him as the industry CEO of the year.

With 30 years of experience in Scientific and Technical computing, Sharan has worked at numerous HPC industry leaders that include Cray Research, Silicon Graphics, Intel, etc. He has also spent several years in the industry at General Motors managing their global engineering HPC centers, as well as in the academic domain, helping to fulfill their research computing missions.

Sharan is a member of the ACM, Senior member of IEEE/Computer Society, USENIX/LISA, Society of HPC Professionals, and Sigma Xi. He also runs the popular discussion group ’Innovative Uses of HPC’ on Linked In.

Professor. David J. Nagel received a BS degree in Engineering Science (Magna Cum Laude) from the University of Notre Dame (1960), and an MS degree in Physics (1969) and a PhD in Materials Engineering (1977), both from the University of Maryland at College Park. During more than half a century of supporting, performing and managing Research and Development, Dave has had multiple successful careers:

Officer in the US Navy. After graduating first in his Naval ROTC class, he had four years of active duty and 26 years of reserve service, including three tours as a Commanding Officer. He retired in 1990 with the rank of Captain in the U. S. Naval Reserve.

Federal Research Scientist. After his active duty, Dave joined the civilian staff of the Naval Research Laboratory as an experimental physicist. He measured the x-ray emissions from nuclear weapons, other multi-million degree plasmas and energetic atomic collisions. He co-invented plasma x-ray lithography. During these 20 years, Dave published in top journals, such as Physical Review Letters.

Federal Research Leader. He served as a head of a materials physics group for 13 years. Then, he became a member of the Senior Executive Service, and was the leader of a nuclear and solid-state physics division for another 13 years. In that position, Dave managed the global experimental and theoretical research and development efforts of 150 government, contractor and other personnel, including 80 PhDs ($30M/year). He was responsible for a cyclotron facility and two accelerators, an electron LINAC and a Tandem Van de Graaff ion system configured for Trace Element Accelerator Mass Spectrometry.

University Teacher and Researcher. For the last 16 years, Dave has been a Research Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of The George Washington University. Now, Dave mentors both undergraduate and graduate students. His current research centers on low energy nuclear reactions (LENR) and noise in electronic devices.

Business Developer. In 2011, Dave founded two companies. The first, NUCAT Energy LLC, provides instruction and educational materials on LENR (nucat-energy.com). The second is OptoBioSense LLC, a spin-off from the GWU (optobiosense.com). It sought to develop inventions, which were made with a recent PhD student, into a commercial point-of-care analyzer for uric acid in clinical samples.

Lecturer. Dave has given several hundred technical presentations at conferences, in seminars and for senior management. He taught graduate courses on MicroElectroMechanical Systems (MEMS) and NanoTechnology (2000-2006). He has given over 80 talks on LENR in six countries on three continents to more than 3600 people.

Author. During his careers, Dave has written or co-authored well over 200 refereed papers, conference proceedings, sponsor reports, book chapters and encyclopedia articles. He has written extensively on LENR.

He has been recognized by Mass High Tech as "Mover & Innovator" (May 2005) and a recipient of Oracle President's Award for Outstanding Contribution.

To accomplish this, a key element of his strategy is to make advanced development tools such as high performance computing tools, used for evaluating and simulating product designs during the development stage, available to manufacturers of all sizes.


Jon has extensive experience in the areas of R&D, High Performance Computing, business development, design methodologies and strategies along with a clear vision and strong understanding of the benefits that high performance computing will bring to manufacturing in the coming years. He brings more than 20 years of experience in the areas of virtual and physical product development, design and validation.


Prior to his position at the NCMS, he spent 13 years at L&L Products, Inc, a successful Tier I automotive supplier, as an engineering manager responsible for their Composite Body Solutions product line, used for a wide variety of crashworthiness and NVH applications. During this time Jon led a corporate global initiative to evaluate and implement required resources for the virtual development of these products including people, hardware and software.


Prior to L&L, Jon worked as a dynamics technical specialist in the aerospace industry and in the vehicle safety group at Ford Motor Company. He earned his B.S and M.S. degree in Aeronautical & Astronautical Engineering from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana.
