I like to think (it has to be!) of a cybernetic ecology where we are free of our labors and joined back to nature, returned to our mammal brothers and sisters, and all watched over by machines of loving grace. Brautigan\u2019s poem\u00a0inspires and terrifies me at the same time. It\u2019s a reminder of how creepy a world full of devices that blur the line between life and objects could be, but there\u2019s also something appealing about connecting more closely to the things we build.
