In October 2020, people on Twitter raised concerns that the saliency model we used to crop images didn\u2019t serve all people equitably. Shortly thereafter, we published our\u00a0algorithmic bias assessment\u00a0which confirmed the model was not treating all people fairly. We\u00a0committed\u00a0to decrease our reliance on ML-based image cropping since the decision to crop an image is\u00a0best made by people. In May 2021 we\u00a0began rolling out changes\u00a0to how images appear on Twitter.
